Boyne Island - Tannum Sands.
Queensland's Best Kept Secret.

Sunrise over the Boyne.
The start of an other perfect day in the Boyne Island - Tannum Sands area, it is this time of day I find the most tranquil and peaceful. The ideal time for a casual stroll along the river where you will come across a number of early birds wetting a line who are always ready for a chat as long as it is about fishing.

The twin towns of Boyne Island and Tannum Sands offer an unspoiled, peaceful and relaxed layback atmosphere for the holiday maker and business person to enjoy, with an abundance of wildlife and beautiful coastal scenery. Seeming a thousand miles from care yet offering all the conveniences of the larger resort towns without the stress.
Boyne ~ Tannum has enjoyed a sound and steady growth over the past eighteen years of our involvement in the area, without losing its coastal country identity. With the industry and facilities of Gladstone only twenty minutes away being a major consideration in the towns growth to many retirees who have made our part of the coast home.

The Turtle Way.
Some of the eighteen K of pathed walkway that ambles the banks of the Boyne River, bushland settings and ocean foreshore which lead to beautifully landscaped parklands along the way, where one can relax and take in the coastal scenery.

Boyne Island is the venue for the annual Boyne ~ Tannum Hookup.

This fishing competition held on the Queens Birthday weekend in June, has now become one of the largest if not the largest in competitor participation in Queensland. In the years from its inception in 1996 better than 2500 entrants have taken part from all over Australia. The competition is held at Bray Park, Boyne Island which boasts some of the best boating and ramp facilities on the Central Queensland coast.

Bray Park and the boating facilities.

Horse riding ranches are near by for the more energetic and canoeing day trips down Wild Cattle Creek are always an adventure. Four wheel drive day trips are also available into the hinterland rainforest of Kroombit Tops and other National Parks.
Kangaroos can still be seen in sizeable numbers in the Boyne - Tannum area, with a colony of fifty or more who have made the small National Park at Canoe Point Tannum Sands home and can be seen daily untroubled by local development.

But all the other activities couldn't replace a day like this, you, your boat and a full bag.
